Case study
ioCharts already provided an established stock-investment experience. This project extended that product so stock investors, crypto investors and people holding both could understand their investments through one portfolio.
Before this work began, ioCharts was already a complete stock-oriented product. It had its own visual language, stock information, portfolio views and charting experience.
The existing product provided the visual language, portfolio relationships and charting patterns on which the combined experience could be built.
The intended users included stock investors, crypto investors and people who held both.
The goal was to let them track stock and crypto in one portfolio and see both asset types in the same portfolio and allocation charts. A person holding both should not have to mentally combine two separate products to understand the balance of the complete portfolio.
At the same time, the relevant parts of ioCharts still needed to remain useful for investors holding only stocks or only crypto.

The work extended the existing portfolio model with the additional relationships needed for crypto while keeping one overall investment view.
The combined portfolio organized crypto holdings by wallet, blockchain and protocol, while manual positions remained part of the same investment view.

The project also added individual pages under /crypto. These pages brought a crypto asset into the research experience already familiar within ioCharts.
An investor could review the current asset context and historical price, compare its movement with Bitcoin, see its relationship with previous all-time highs, and examine how far it had historically fallen from those highs over selectable periods.
The established ioCharts presentation was reused where it remained meaningful, with crypto-specific information added where the new asset type required it.
The individual asset page combined familiar price research with crypto-specific downside context.
The completed scope brought connected wallets, manual crypto positions, chains, protocols, tokens and stock holdings into one portfolio experience. The design was provided; our responsibility was the frontend and backend implementation.
Investors who held both stocks and crypto could see the two asset types as parts of the same portfolio. Combined allocation and portfolio charts showed the balance of the complete portfolio, while individual crypto pages provided a more detailed view of a selected asset.
The existing ioCharts experience expanded into one product where stocks and crypto could be understood together.
